🇮🇩 Menjangan Island

Pulau Menjangan · 인도네시아 발리 북서부 (서발리 국립공원)

Location

Overview

Menjangan Island (Pulau Menjangan) is an uninhabited island inside West Bali National Park (Taman Nasional Bali Barat), widely regarded as Bali's premier 'wall' snorkeling spot. Shallow coral gardens in just 2-3 m of water sit right beside dramatic drop-off walls that plunge 40-60 m, and from the surface you can look down on wall faces carpeted in gorgonian sea fans, anemones with resident clownfish, and frequent sea turtles. Because it lies within a protected national-park bay, the water is calm and exceptionally clear, with visibility typically 20-30 m (up to around 50 m on the best days), making it one of the most beginner-friendly snorkel sites in Bali. As of 2026, daily visitor numbers are capped to protect the coral and wildlife.

Practical info

The island is about a 20-40 minute boat ride from the Labuhan Lalang jetty; overnight stays on the island are not allowed, so it is a day trip. You need a national-park entry fee (roughly 200,000 IDR for foreigners on weekdays, around 300,000 IDR on weekends/holidays) and must be accompanied by an official guide, usually arranged through resorts or local operators in the Pemuteran/Menjangan area. Fees, operating hours and visitor caps change by season, so confirm the latest details before you go.
