Location

Overview

Melaka is a UNESCO World Heritage port city in Malaysia whose symbolic heart is the terracotta-red 'Dutch Square (Red Square),' anchored by Christ Church and the Stadthuys, the former Dutch governor's residence. Just across the river, Jonker Street (Jonker Walk) is a Peranakan shopping lane that transforms into a bustling night market on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The compact, walkable district lets you pair daytime colonial heritage with nighttime street food and souvenir hunting, making it a popular one-day itinerary.
