🇨🇭 Matterhorn Glacier Paradise

Matterhorn Glacier Paradise (Klein Matterhorn) · 체르마트

Location

Overview

Matterhorn Glacier Paradise sits atop the Klein Matterhorn (3,883 m) above Zermatt and is home to the highest cable car station in Europe. It is famous for a viewing platform that takes in 38 four-thousand-metre peaks and 14 glaciers across three countries — Switzerland, Italy and France. Since the Matterhorn Alpine Crossing opened in summer 2023, you can cross the border to Cervinia in Italy by cable car alone, year-round, and as of summer 2026 everything is in full operation. With glass-floor gondolas, an ice grotto and summer glacier skiing, it is one of the Swiss Alps' signature high-altitude experiences and an easy day trip from the village.

Practical info

Zermatt is a car-free village, so arrive by train from Täsch or Visp, then board the cable car at the 'Matterhorn Glacier Paradise' valley station on the south edge of the village. The trip takes about 40 minutes each way and runs year-round, but fares (from roughly CHF 120 in 2026), operating hours and whether it is open should be confirmed on the official website. The ticket includes admission to the Glacier Palace and the Cinema Lounge.
