🇲🇵 Managaha Island

Mañagaha · 사이판 서부 라군(개러펀 앞바다)

Location

Overview

Managaha is a tiny coral islet inside Saipan's western lagoon, just a 15-minute boat ride from Garapan, and it's one of the island's go-to spots for beginner-friendly snorkeling. The whole surrounding lagoon is a marine protected area, so the shallow 1-5m reef flats stay calm and full of tropical fish, with a chance — not a guarantee, as numbers here have thinned — of spotting a green sea turtle. Visibility runs 15-30m on a good day, clear enough to see coral and fish clearly without diving down. As of July 2026, Saipan has entered its rainy season (July-November): mornings are usually calmer, afternoon squalls are common, and the region has recently seen tropical storm activity, so it's worth checking the latest marine and weather advisories before heading out.

Practical info

Managaha is reachable only by round-trip ferry (about 15 minutes) from Charlie Dock in Garapan — there's no independent boat access — and the island typically closes around 3:30-4pm. Snorkel gear and life vests can be rented on site, but ferry schedules, fares, and whether island entry is bundled into a tour vary by season and operator, so confirm the latest details before you go.
