Lianhuashan Park opened in June 1997 in Shenzhen's Futian District, wrapping roughly 180 hectares of subtropical greenery around a single 106-metre hill. Its summit plaza (about 4,000 square metres) holds a 6-metre, 6-tonne bronze statue of Deng Xiaoping, unveiled in November 2000, which anchors the northern end of the north-south axis running down through the Civic Center to Ping An Finance Centre. Designated a national 'red tourism' site and patriotic education base, it hosts frequent commemorative ceremonies while doubling as the everyday morning-walk and tai chi ground for Futian residents. As of 2026 it remains a free municipal park with no ticket, so treat it less as a sightseeing stop than as a 30-minute viewing platform onto the story of how Shenzhen was built.

SeasonJuly to September is peak subtropical heat and typhoon season. The climb to the summit takes 15-20 minutes uphill, so midday visits carry real heat-exhaustion risk; go early morning or near sunset. Trails are closed for safety during typhoon and thunderstorm warnings.
RulesVisa-free entry rules differ by nationality. Holders of many passports, including South Korean, can enter visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, transit or business, a measure currently extended to 31 December 2026; it does not cover work, study or journalism. Confirm your own nationality's status with a Chinese embassy before departure.
RulesForeign visitors must complete temporary accommodation registration. Hotels handle this automatically at check-in, but if you stay in a private home or short-term rental you must register in person at the local police station within 24 hours of arrival.

CautionBecause admission is free, there are no legitimate entrance tickets for sale. Ignore anyone at the gates offering 'tickets' or paid guiding, and board the shuttle only at official stops (southeast gate, south gate, Yuxiu Garden, summit plaza).

The park sits at 6030 Hongli Road, Futian District: roughly a 7-minute walk to the south gate from Exit F1 or E at Children's Palace station (Lines 3 and 4), about 3 minutes to the southeast gate from Exit D at Lianhuacun (Line 3), and about 9 minutes to the west gate from Exit A at Lianhua West (Line 2).
