Kyoto Imperial Palace (Kyoto Gosho) was the residence of Japan's emperors from the Heian era until the Meiji Restoration moved the capital to Tokyo. The current buildings, rebuilt in 1855, sit within a walled compound inside the vast Kyoto Gyoen National Garden. RulesYou view the palace from the outside; interiors of the buildings cannot be entered. Bags and belongings are checked at the Seishomon entry gate.
