Kronborg Slot · 헬싱외르

Location

Overview

Kronborg Castle is a Renaissance royal fortress at Helsingør, guarding the narrowest point of the Øresund strait, and it is world-famous as 'Elsinore,' the setting of Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000, it once commanded the strait where every passing ship had to pay the Sound Dues. In 2026 visitors can still tour the Royal Chambers, the Great Ballroom, the Chapel and the underground casemates, and in summer the courtyard comes alive with open-air 'Hamlet Highlights' performances.
