Location

Overview

Kkotji Beach is a gently sloping, roughly 3.2 km white-sand beach on Anmyeon Island in Taean, Chungcheongnam-do, within Taean Coast National Park. It is famous for the sunset that sets between the paired Halmibawi and Halabibawi ('Granny and Grandpa') rocks β€” counted among Korea's finest west-coast sunsets β€” and the two rocks were designated a national Scenic Site in 2009. At high tide the rocks stand like islands, while at low tide you can walk close to them, so the scene changes several times a day.
