Location

Overview

This 60km loop track begins near Lake Te Anau in Fiordland National Park and is one of New Zealand's nine Great Walks. Its signature feature is a long above-bushline traverse along the Kepler Mountains ridgeline, dropping over 3-4 days through Luxmore Hut (about 1,085m elevation) into the Iris Burn valley. Opened in 1988, it was one of the more recently established Great Walks, and it runs on a pre-booked hut and campsite system.
