Location

Overview

Kasprowy Wierch (1,987 m) is a peak in the Western Tatras above Zakopane, its summit sitting right on the Poland-Slovakia border. Poland's only high-mountain cable car, built in 1935-36 (one of the oldest in Europe, modernised in 2007), carries visitors from Kuźnice to the top in about 20 minutes, making it the region's easiest way to reach a genuine Tatra summit. A hub for summer hiking and winter skiing, it remains so popular in 2026 that advance booking is effectively essential in peak season. Come for the easy access, but treat the summit as the true high-alpine environment it is.
