🇲🇦 Kasbah Amridil (Skoura Oasis)

قصبة أمريديل · 스코우라 오아시스

Location

Overview

Kasbah Amridil is a 17th-century earthen fortified mansion set at the edge of the palm groves (palmeraie) of the Skoura oasis in southern Morocco. Still owned and partly inhabited by the Nasiri family, it opens sections as a museum where an olive press, bread oven, well and traditional tools illustrate everyday life in the Berber oases of the south. Once pictured on the old 50-dirham banknote and used as a filming location for classics such as Lawrence of Arabia, it is regarded as one of Morocco's best-preserved kasbahs. Restored since 2009, in 2026 it remains a signature stop on the Ouarzazate-to-Dades route, seen on a short guided tour.

Practical info

The kasbah lies about 30-40 km northeast of Ouarzazate in Skoura village (Ouled Yaacoub area), just off the N9 road; a rental car, taxi, or a day tour from Ouarzazate is the easiest way in, as scheduled public transport is limited. Opening hours are roughly 08:30-17:30 and the entry fee has been reported at about 20-70 MAD per person, but this varies by season and operator, so check the latest information before visiting.
