Jangtaesan Natural Recreation Forest in Daejeon's Seo-gu district is home to Korea's only large-scale metasequoia forest β thousands of tall, ramrod-straight trees first planted in the 1970s that give the grounds a strikingly exotic feel. Visitors walk shaded forest paths, cross a suspension bridge, and take a Skyway (Forest Adventure) that winds through the treetops, with a valley, ecological pond and arboretum nearby. Admission and parking are free, making it one of Daejeon's most-loved relaxation spots.
