Overview
Imjingak and Pyeonghwa Nuri (Peace) Park in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, is a memorial complex symbolizing Korea's division and hopes for peace, located about 7 km south of the Military Demarcation Line — one of the closest points ordinary visitors can freely reach toward the North. The site gathers the bullet-scarred Freedom Bridge, a war-halted steam locomotive, a broad grassy peace park, an Imjin River skywalk and the DMZ peace gondola. From here, security tours continue to the Dora Observatory, the Third Infiltration Tunnel and Dorasan Station, which require advance booking and valid ID.
Freedom Bridge — the bridge that roughly 13,000 POWs crossed in 1953 shouting for freedom just after the armistice; you can see bullet marks and a glass-floored observation skywalk
Pyeonghwa Nuri (Peace) Park — a large, free, 24-hour open lawn hillside with pinwheel art installations and outdoor performance and exhibition spaces
Paju Imjingak Peace Gondola (DMZ Gondola) — a cable car crossing the Imjin River toward Camp Greaves, a former U.S. military base
Dora Observatory & Third Tunnel — core security-tour stops where you can view North Korea's Kijong-dong village and giant flagpole and walk inside a North Korean infiltration tunnel discovered in 1978
Gyeongui Line steam locomotive & Dorasan Station — the rusted train wreck halted by the war, and Dorasan, the northernmost southern station that symbolizes 'the start of peace'

RulesDMZ security-tour zones such as Dora Observatory, the Third Tunnel and Dorasan Station require a passport or valid ID, and usually a booked tour or bus to enter. Check the latest reservation method before you go.
RulesPhotography and video are strictly prohibited inside the Third Tunnel and at the Dora Observatory. Even on the transfer bus, shooting to the sides is restricted, and before entering the tunnel you must store your phone, bag and hat in a locker. Always follow the guides' instructions.
RulesDMZ facilities (Dora Observatory, Third Tunnel, etc.) and many security-tour sites are generally closed on Mondays. Imjingak and the Peace Park itself stay open, but individual facilities (gondola, exhibition halls, amusement park) keep different hours — verify the latest information.
SafetyThis is a militarized border area beside the Demarcation Line; depending on the political situation, Tongil Bridge controls or security-tour operations can change or be suspended without notice. Do not approach beyond control lines, fences or military installations — stay within designated zones and follow guidance.
SeasonThe Peace Park is a mostly exposed, windy hillside, so winter feels bitterly cold and summer offers little shade. On days with heavy fine dust or fog, gondola and observatory views can be severely limited.

From Seoul, take the Gyeongui–Jungang Line to Munsan Station, then transfer to the DMZ Peace Train or the Munsan–Imjingang shuttle train toward Imjingak.
