De Hoge Veluwe National Park in the Dutch province of Gelderland is a privately owned park of about 5,500 hectares, blending forests, heathland, grasslands and rare drifting sand dunes. Good to know
RulesThe museum is separate from park entry and is usually bought as a combined park + museum day ticket. The Kröller-Müller Museum is closed on Mondays (open daily in high summer, roughly early July to late August), so check the day before you go.
RulesAt the park entrances and the Kemperberg Tea House you can pay by card only - cash is not accepted. Bring a contactless or internationally usable card.
SeasonOpening hours change with the season and sunset (roughly 09:00-18:00 from November to March, longer in summer). Confirm the exact opening hours and prices for your date on the official website.
SafetyThe park is very large and heavily forested, so it is easy to lose your way. Download an offline map, carry water and snacks, keep your distance from wild boar and other animals, and stay on the marked paths.
MannersThe White Bikes are free and shared - don't treat one as your own, hoard it or hide it; return it to a rack when done. Dogs must be leashed at all times and are not allowed inside the museum or the Museonder.
CautionBuy tickets from the official website or authorised sellers. Avoid resale sites offering suspiciously large discounts or marked-up tickets; booking online is generally cheaper and reduces waiting at the entrance.
Practical info
Take a train to Ede-Wageningen, Apeldoorn or Arnhem station, then a bus to the Otterlo roundabout and transfer to bus 106 into the park to reach the museum (by car, park at one of the three entrances - Otterlo, Hoenderloo or Schaarsbergen). The park is open year-round as of 2026, but confirm opening hours, prices and the museum's closing days on the official website before your visit.
