🇳🇱 H'ART Museum (formerly Hermitage Amsterdam)

H'ART Museum · 암스테르담

Location

Overview

H'ART Museum sits in the 17th-century Amstelhof, a former almshouse on the banks of the Amstel River, and stages large-scale temporary exhibitions in partnership with leading museums worldwide. It opened in 2009 as 'Hermitage Amsterdam,' a satellite of the State Hermitage in St. Petersburg, but severed its Russian ties after the 2022 invasion of Ukraine and relaunched as H'ART Museum in September 2023. Today it collaborates with the British Museum, the Centre Pompidou and the Smithsonian American Art Museum; the 2026 highlight is 'Chez Matisse,' a Henri Matisse show co-organised with the Pompidou. Because the programme is built around rotating exhibitions rather than a fixed collection, it's worth checking what's on before you visit.
