🇰🇷 Gyeongpo Beach

鏡浦海邊 · 강릉

Location

Overview

Gyeongpo Beach is Gangneung's signature beach and one of the largest on Korea's East Coast, with a wide sandy shore roughly 1.8 km long, a gentle slope, and a pine forest behind it. It sits right beside Gyeongpo Lake and the historic Gyeongpodae Pavilion, so beyond swimming you can walk or cycle the lakeside loop and watch the sunrise. It is a year-round destination, packed as a top summer resort and known for spring cherry blossoms and early-summer lotus blooms.

Practical info

From Seoul, KTX (departing Seoul or Cheongnyangni Station) reaches Gangneung Station in about 2 hours; from there take a city bus or taxi. In peak season parking fills up before beach spots do, so arriving early helps. Prices, opening dates, and any night-swim hours should be checked for the latest.
