Gwangalli Beach is an urban beach in Suyeong-gu, Busan, best known for its fine white sand and the sweeping night view of Gwangan Bridge (the "Diamond Bridge") over the water. Compared with Haeundae, it has a younger, trendier feel, with dense cafe streets, raw-fish centers, and a waterfront park that make the beach busier by night than by day. It is also the main stage for the weekly Gwangalli M Drone Light Show and the autumn Busan Fireworks Festival.

SeasonThe official swimming (open-beach) season is typically July 1 to August 31, with lifeguards on set hours; entering the water at night (roughly after 6 PM) is prohibited. Confirm exact opening dates and hours before visiting.
SafetyRip currents and swells can occur just offshore, so stay within the marked swimming zone and safety lines. A jellyfish barrier net is set up in summer, and swimming outside the designated area is dangerous.
RulesPowered watercraft (jet skis, motorboats, etc.) are banned year-round within 200 m of the shoreline at Gwangalli, with fines (around 600,000 KRW) for violations. Swimming and paddleboard zones are separated—follow the posted markers.
CautionAt Millak Raw Fish Town, expect first-floor touting and possible overcharging. Confirm the fish weight/price and the upstairs table-setting (chojangjip) fee in advance, use the displayed-price stalls, and keep your receipt.
MannersCrowds are intense during the drone show and fireworks festival. Take your trash with you after eating on the sand, avoid hogging space, and use designated smoking areas to keep the beach pleasant for everyone.
Practical info
Take Busan Metro Line 2 to Gwangan Station (Exit 3 or 5), then walk about 10–15 minutes. Parking is congested and paid (check current rates), so public transit is recommended. Facilities include showers, changing rooms, and foot-washing stations. The drone show can be canceled due to wind or rain—check the official website the same day.
