Gungnamji is Korea's oldest known artificial pond and a royal garden site, believed to have been created during the reign of King Mu of Baekje (a record dates it to 634 CE) south of the Sabi capital in Buyeo. Managed as a national Historic Site, it is famous for Porujeong pavilion at the center of the pond, the wooden bridge leading to it, and the weeping willows around its banks. In summer, vast lotus beds reach full bloom, making it one of Buyeo's signature attractions.
