Gubałówka is the signature viewpoint hill on the Gubałówka ridge, rising directly above the mountain resort town of Zakopane in southern Poland and facing the Tatra Mountains. RulesRound-trip tickets are a few złoty cheaper on the official PKL website than at the counter (in 2026 roughly 37–44 PLN online, 42–49 PLN on site — verify the latest). Check the last downhill departure time and keep your ticket until you ride back.
SafetyThe ridge path is open and exposed to wind with a big temperature swing. Wear non-slip shoes (sneakers or better), and on wet or icy days take the funicular down rather than walking.
CautionAt the top, people may invite you to photograph folk costumes or animals (dogs, sheep) and then ask for a tip. Confirm the price of oscypek and other snacks by weight or per piece first, and agree on the fare before taking a horse cart or taxi at the bottom.
MannersKeep haggling at the stalls light-hearted and avoid sampling with no intention to buy. A tip of around 10% is customary in restaurants, and carrying some small cash makes things easier.
