🇬🇺 Ypao Beach Park

Ypao Beach Park (Ipao) · 투몬 남단(타무닝)

Location

Overview

Sitting at the southern end of Tumon Bay on Guam's west coast, Ypao Beach Park is a free public beach that falls inside the Tumon Bay Marine Preserve, so fishing and coral collecting are banned there and the reef tends to be in better shape than most of the bay. The water stays knee-to-waist deep for a good stretch off the sand before shelving off gradually toward the outer reef, and the coral patch on the beach's left (south) side regularly turns up bright reef fish, giant clams, moray eels, and sea cucumbers — making it one of the more reliable walk-in snorkel spots on the island, especially for kids and first-timers. Typical depth runs about 1-2.5 m (shallower at low tide), with visibility around 5-10 m on a calm day. As of July 2026 it's still a free, easy-access spot served by the Tumon shuttle, though summer overlaps with typhoon season so swell and clarity can vary from day to day.

Good to know

Practical info

It's roughly a 10-minute shuttle ride or walk from the main Tumon hotel strip, with free parking and a direct beach entry — no admission fee to snorkel, only for optional gear rental or kayak/SUP tours. Lifeguard hours and any surf or typhoon advisories change, so check current local conditions before you go.
