🇬🇺 Gab Gab Beach

Gabgab Beach, Naval Base Guam · 산타리타(오로테반도, 해군기지)

Location

Overview

Tucked inside Naval Base Guam on the shores of Apra Harbor, Gab Gab Beach pairs an easy stair-step entry with a swimming-pool-calm lagoon that opens onto a multi-tiered coral reef just past the buoy line. Snorkelers regularly report sea turtles, white-tip reef sharks, moray eels, and clownfish tucked into anemones along the drop-off, which plunges past 30 meters into the harbor itself. The marked swim area stays a gentle 1-5 meters deep, visibility can run 20-30 meters on a good day, and the water sits at a balmy 28-29°C year-round. As of 2026 it's still base property — you need military ID or a sponsor to get on — which keeps it far less crowded than Guam's public beaches.

Highlights

Good to know

Practical info

Entry is through the Naval Base Guam gate in the Santa Rita/Apra Harbor area; civilians need a military or DoD sponsor to arrange a visitor pass in advance, since there's no commercial snorkel tour operating on base. Gear rentals (SUP, etc.) are available at Sumay Cove Marina & Adventure Center. Access rules shift, so confirm current entry procedures with base MWR before you go.
