Overview

Set inside Inokashira Park in Mitaka, Tokyo, this Studio Ghibli animation museum was conceived with direct input from Hayao Miyazaki under the motto 'Let's lose our way together.' There is no fixed route: visitors freely explore original artwork, stained glass, spiral staircases, and the rooftop Robot Soldier, and can watch short Ghibli films screened only here. All admission is by advance reservation, with no tickets sold on site.

Location: inside Inokashira Park, Mitaka, Tokyo. About a 15-min walk from the south exit of JR Mitaka Station, or ~5 min by community bus (paid). Also ~15 min on foot from Kichijoji Station through Inokashira Park. Open 10:00–18:00 (entry at 10/12/14/16), closed Tuesdays. Confirm prices, hours, and rules on the official site before visiting.
