Gangnam Station, on Gangnam-daero in Seoul's Gangnam-gu, is a transfer point for Subway Line 2 and the Shinbundang Line and one of the busiest transit and commercial hubs in the city. It connects directly to a large underground shopping mall, and the surrounding avenue is packed with cosmetics flagships, fashion stores, cafes and restaurants. It is also a convenient jumping-off point for other Gangnam attractions like COEX and Garosu-gil.

Good to know
SeasonThe Gangnam Station area sits lower than surrounding districts and is prone to flooding during the summer monsoon and heavy downpours (a major flood hit in 2022). During heavy-rain warnings, be cautious in the underground mall and low-lying spots and check the latest weather.
SafetyCrowds get very heavy at rush hours and on weekend evenings, especially along the Sinnonhyeon–Gangnam sidewalks and in the underground mall. Keep bags in front of you and don't rush in packed passages.
CautionSome bars in Gangnam's nightlife strips have presented inflated bills without stating prices up front. Confirm drink prices before ordering and check your tab.
SafetyIn the club- and bar-dense night areas, never leave a drink unattended and avoid accepting open drinks from strangers.
MannersOn escalators, in subway passages and in the underground mall, keep to the flow and don't stop right in front of gates or exits. Keep phone calls and loud talk to a minimum on public transit.
Practical info
Load a T-money card in advance for easy subway, bus and taxi use. The station has many exits on both sides of Gangnam-daero, so check your destination's exit number first. The underground mall is generally open around 10:00–23:00, but hours vary by shop — confirm the latest before you go.
