Location

Overview

Near Cape Helles at the entrance to Turkey's Dardanelles strait, the seabed holds numerous warships and landing craft sunk during the 1915 Gallipoli campaign. The strait's persistent, strong current flowing from the Black Sea toward the Aegean makes this an experienced diver's site, and because the area is designated as a war grave, diving requires permission from Turkish authorities and a registered local dive operator. The wrecks remain undisturbed, so a dive here effectively doubles as a tour of a preserved battlefield.
