Overview

Fuvahmulah is the only island in the Maldives that does not belong to an atoll, standing alone geologically in a way that puts it close to deep-water conditions. Tiger sharks can be encountered here year-round, earning it the nickname "Tiger Shark City," while thresher sharks and scalloped hammerheads are also regularly seen. It is a relatively remote destination reached by domestic flight from Male.
