🇰🇷 Euljiro (Hipjiro)

을지로 (Euljiro) · 서울 중구

Location

Overview

Euljiro is an old downtown district in Seoul's Jung-gu, historically packed with alleys of printing shops, tool sellers and lighting stores. As stylish cafes, bars and restaurants have slipped in between the aging buildings, the area has earned the nickname 'Hipjiro' and enjoyed a second heyday. By day it is a gritty industrial zone of working print shops and metal workshops; after dark, the Nogari Alley area transforms into a sprawling open-air pub of plastic tables. Close to Myeongdong and Dongdaemun yet largely spared from redevelopment, it keeps a strong retro atmosphere.
