The Lower Duden Waterfall (Aşağı Düden Şelalesi, also called Karpuzkaldıran) is a rare sea-cliff cascade where the Düden River plunges roughly 40 metres straight off Antalya's coastal cliffs into the Mediterranean. After running underground through a karst system, the river resurfaces and drops directly into the sea, making it one of Antalya's signature natural sights. As of 2026 the surrounding Düden Park is still free and open around the clock; you can look down from clifftop viewing terraces or get close from the water on a boat tour departing from Kaleiçi (Old Town) marina. Aim for the afternoon, when sunlight through the spray often forms a rainbow.

SafetyThe viewing terraces sit at the cliff edge and can be slick with spray. Stay behind the railings, don't lean out, and keep a firm hold on children.
SeasonFlow is most powerful in spring (March–May) with snowmelt; midsummer can be lighter, but spring and summer are best for getting close by boat. Visit in the afternoon for the best chance at a rainbow.
SeasonAntalya summers are very hot with strong sun. Bring a hat, sunscreen and water; boat decks offer little shade, so prepare for UV exposure.
CautionBoat-tour touts are common around Kaleiçi marina. Before boarding, confirm the price, duration, whether lunch is included, and that the tour actually goes to the Lower Duden falls — ideally get the terms in writing or a screenshot.
RulesPark entry is free, but car parking is paid. Note that the Upper Duden Waterfall (Yukarı Düden) is a separate site with its own admission fee — don't confuse the two.
MannersThe park is a public space popular with local families. Take your litter with you, and outside the boat-tour swim stops, more modest clothing is the comfortable norm.
SafetyHow close a boat can approach depends on the day's sea state, and swell is possible. Take motion-sickness precautions if you're prone to it, and hold the rail on deck.
Practical info
The falls are about 30 minutes by car from central Antalya, or roughly 45 minutes by city bus toward Lara, with public transport reaching the Düden Park entrance. The park is open at all hours and free (only car parking is charged); to see the falls from the water, take a boat tour from Kaleiçi marina (typically 2–5 hours, some with lunch). Confirm current fares, sailing times and tour terms before booking.
