Sri Lanka's largest cave temple, where five caves on a hillside hold 153 Buddha statues and murals covering the ceilings and walls — a UNESCO World Heritage Site over 2,000 years old. It is close to Sigiriya and often paired with it.

RulesCover shoulders and knees and remove shoes in the precinct; there is a shoe store at the stairway entrance.
SafetyThe stone steps get hot and monkeys are numerous and after your things — don't take out food or valuables.
·Photographing with your back to the Buddha is prohibited and punishable — be respectful.
