🇹🇼 Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia)

赤崁樓 · 타이난(Tainan)

Location

Overview

Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia) is Tainan's landmark historic site in the West Central District, tracing back to the Dutch East India Company's Fort Provintia, built around 1653. After Koxinga expelled the Dutch and through the Qing era, Chinese-style pavilions and temples were raised on the original brick fort foundation, giving it today's red-tiled, sweeping-eaved look. Together with Anping Fort, it symbolizes Tainan's 400 years of history.
