🇮🇹 Capo Sant'Andrea (Elba)

Capo Sant'Andrea, Isola d'Elba · 이탈리아 토스카나 엘바섬

Location

Overview

Capo Sant'Andrea sits on the northwestern tip of Elba (Marciana), in Italy's Tuscan archipelago, and is widely rated the island's finest spot for snorkelling. Smooth granite boulders sculpted by wind and waves, the natural pools between them, and a gently deepening meadow of posidonia seagrass draw shoals of fish such as castagnola (Mediterranean chromis) right up near the surface. The water is famously clear, opening up to 15-30 m visibility on good days, and the typical depth of just 1-6 m keeps it easy for beginners. As of 2026 nearby hotels and a dive centre run gear rental and guided trips, with June to September the peak season.

Practical info

Reaching Elba means a ferry of about an hour from Piombino to Portoferraio, then a drive west toward Marciana. Sant'Andrea beach is small with limited parking; you can enter straight from the beach or arrange gear rental and guided trips at the dive centre roughly 150 m away. Always check the latest prices, opening hours and tour-booking requirements before you go.
