Cape Manzamo is a scenic Ryukyu-limestone cliff on the west coast of Onna Village on Okinawa's main island, where a grassy plateau tops a roughly 20-meter cliff and an uplifted coral rock shaped like an elephant's trunk is the icon. Its name comes from 1726, when Ryukyu King Sho Kei praised it as a 'field large enough for ten thousand people to sit' (万座毛). Facing the East China Sea, it is famous as a sunset spot.

SafetyBeyond the 'off-limits' signs at the cliff edge there are no railings and the fall risk is severe. Accidents have happened when visitors climbed over the fence for social-media photos - never cross the barriers.
SafetySea winds are strong and easily blow away hats, phones, and light belongings. Hold your possessions securely near the cliff edge.
SeasonSummer through autumn (roughly July-October) is typhoon season; on typhoon approach, strong winds and high waves can close the facility or restrict viewing, so check the weather before you go.
RulesA viewing fee of 100 yen per person is collected for environmental conservation, and viewing is allowed until sunset. Confirm current fees and hours on the official site before visiting.
MannersThe grassland and surrounding plant community are a designated prefectural natural monument. Do not walk on or enter the grass - keep to the marked walkway.

About 1 hour by car from Naha Airport (via the Okinawa Expressway). Free parking (~300 cars). Hours: Mar-Oct 8:00-20:00, Nov-Feb 8:00-19:00 (viewing until sunset). Fee 100 yen/person. Morning light gives the crispest shot of the elephant rock; for sunset, arrive about 30 minutes early. Verify fees and hours before visiting.
