The Củ Chi Tunnels are an extensive network of underground passages about 60 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, reportedly stretching more than 200 km in total. Dug and used by Viet Cong guerrillas during the Vietnam War for shelter, movement and surprise attacks, the site is now a war memorial park and one of the city's most popular day trips. Two sections, Ben Dinh and Ben Duoc, are open to visitors.
You can crawl (hunched over) through a short, widened stretch of original tunnel — a claustrophobic few minutes that vividly conveys how hard life underground was.
Guided displays of camouflaged trapdoors, booby traps, and reconstructed underground command posts, kitchens and field hospitals.
An optional live firing range where you can shoot vintage rifles such as AK-47 or M16 for an extra fee (very loud).
Choose between crowded, closer Ben Dinh and the larger (about 100 hectares), quieter, more local Ben Duoc.

Good to know
SafetyTunnel sections are very narrow, dark and hot. If you are claustrophobic or have knee/back issues, don't force it — emergency exits appear roughly every 10 m, and staying above ground is perfectly fine.
SafetyThe shooting range is extremely loud. Wear the provided ear protection, follow the range staff's instructions, and skip it if you are pregnant, have a heart condition, or are with small children.
MannersThis is a war memorial where tens of thousands died. Keep behaviour respectful around the traps and exhibits and avoid overly playful posing or loud joking.
CautionIndependent taxis to Cu Chi are prone to meter tricks and overcharging. Use ride-hailing apps (Grab, Be, Green SM) or only reputable brands (Mai Linh in green, Vinasun in white). A one-way taxi fare of roughly 600,000 VND and up is normal.
CautionFiring-range ammunition costs about 60,000 VND per round regardless of weapon, and you typically must buy a minimum of 10 rounds (about 600,000 VND). Confirm the full price before firing so you aren't billed for the minimum after being told 'just a few shots.'
SeasonIn the May–October rainy season, paths turn muddy and slippery after downpours and tunnel access may be limited. The dry season (December–May) is best; go early to beat the heat and crowds.
Practical info
Open daily 07:00–17:00. Entry roughly 110,000 VND (Ben Dinh) / 90,000 VND (Ben Duoc); shooting is extra. About 1.5–2 hours by road from the city; a half-day guided tour is the easiest option. Wear dark, old, comfortable clothes and sneakers; bring bug spray, water and ear protection. Confirm current prices, hours and rules before you go.
