BMW Welt is the BMW Group's brand-experience center next to Munich's Olympiapark, and it has been one of the city's signature landmarks since opening in 2007. Its icon is the swirling glass-and-steel 'Double Cone' designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au, and inside it works as a free showroom and vehicle-delivery center where you can get up close to the latest BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad and Rolls-Royce cars. Summer 2026 is an exceptional time to visit: to mark the collection's 50th anniversary, all 20 BMW Art Cars are reunited in one place for the first time in a special exhibition (29 July–31 August 2026). Pair it with the ticketed BMW Museum just across the bridge for a half-day outing.

RulesEntry to BMW Welt is free, but the 'BMW Museum' across the road is a separate paid venue (adults around €17, please confirm the latest price). Don't confuse the two, and note the museum is usually closed on Mondays.
SeasonThe 29 Jul–31 Aug 2026 Art Cars exhibition draws large crowds. Visit early on a weekday and book museum tickets and guided tours online in advance.
CautionAdmission to BMW Welt is genuinely free. Avoid third-party resellers that sell 'entry tickets' to what is free, and buy museum or tour tickets only from the official BMW ticket shop.
SafetyOlympiazentrum station and the U/S-Bahn get busy with tourists, so pickpockets are possible. Keep bags in front of you and secure your wallet and passport.
RulesOn Munich transit you must hold and validate a valid MVV ticket; fare-dodging fines are steep. For a day trip consider a day pass or the Deutschland-Ticket.
MannersThis is a working delivery center — don't sit in or touch cars unless permitted, and be considerate of owners during handover ceremonies. In the restaurants a tip of about 5–10% (rounding up) is customary.
Practical info
Take U3 to Olympiazentrum station, about 500 m (5–7 min) on foot; from the city you can also ride the S1 to Moosach and change to the U3. The Welt building is open Mon–Sat 07:30–24:00 and Sun/holidays 09:00–24:00 (showroom staff 09:00–18:00), with free admission. The museum is open Tue–Sun and ticketed; always confirm current hours, prices and special-exhibition dates on the official website.
