A UNESCO World Heritage national park west of Sydney, named for the blue haze rising from its eucalyptus forests. The three sandstone peaks 'Three Sisters' seen from Echo Point are its symbol.

Good to know

·Doable as a day trip from Sydney by train or tour (about 2 hours each way); Katoomba station is the base.
SafetyFog erases the views and makes trails slippery — check the weather and stay on marked paths.
SeasonAt around 1,000m it is cooler than Sydney; winter brings frost and occasional snow.
