Bharatpur Beach is the main beach on Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) in India's Andaman archipelago, and it has earned the nickname "coral capital of the Andamans." A wide, wadeable lagoon holds sheets of brain, mushroom and staghorn coral alive with clownfish, butterflyfish and parrotfish, so even non-swimmers can float on the surface and take it all in. Depths stay around 1-4 m and visibility can reach 8-18 m on clear days, and turtles or the occasional small reef shark turn up if you're lucky. As of 2026 it remains Neil Island's only water-sports hub, with snorkelling and glass-bottom boats running daily.

SafetyJet skis, banana boats and speedboats work the same beach. Stay inside the marked snorkelling zone and never swim out across the boat lanes.
SafetyPast the lagoon's reef edge, currents can push you toward open water. Don't snorkel alone; wear a life jacket or tow a float and stay with your guide.
SafetyThe shallow reef hides sea urchins, fire coral, jellyfish and stonefish that sting or cut on contact. Wear a rash guard and reef shoes, and don't stand on or touch the bottom.
