Location

Overview

Benagil Cave (Algar de Benagil) is a sea cave set into the golden cliffs of the Algarve (Lagoa), southern Portugal, world-famous for the round skylight in its ceiling that pours sunlight onto a small hidden beach inside. It cannot be reached on foot from land - access is only from the water by boat, kayak or SUP. Since August 2024, protected-area rules ban swimming into the cave and stepping onto the sand inside.
