SafetyThis is a known hotspot for pickpocketing and bag snatching. Never leave your bag, phone or wallet on the sand when you swim; take turns watching belongings, or keep valuables in a waterproof pouch on your body.
SafetyAfter midnight, grab-and-run thefts targeting tired or intoxicated beachgoers increase. Avoid walking a quiet beach alone late at night and leave valuables at your accommodation.
RulesAll Barcelona beaches are smoke-free and vape-free, with fines for violations (verify current rules). You must step fully off the beach to smoke.
RulesPublic drinking is banned on the beach and in public spaces, and offenders can be fined (verify current rules). Drink at a licensed chiringuito or restaurant instead.
CautionUnlicensed vendors roam the sand selling mojitos, beer and water. Hygiene is poor and some drinks have tested positive for E. coli, so it is best not to buy from them.
SeasonIn peak July and August the beach is packed well before 11 a.m. For thinner crowds, visit in June or September, or come early in the morning.
