The Balcón de Europa (Balcony of Europe) is a clifftop viewpoint in the heart of Nerja's old town, on Spain's Costa del Sol in Málaga province, Andalusia. Jutting out over the Mediterranean, it offers sweeping panoramas of the sea and the Sierra de Almijara mountains; the site was once a 9th-century Arab watchtower and gained its name after King Alfonso XII visited following the 1884 earthquake and called it 'the balcony of Europe.'
