Location

Overview

ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, opened in 2004 and designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen, is one of northern Europe's largest art museums, world-famous for Olafur Eliasson's 'Your Rainbow Panorama' (2011) — a 150-metre circular walkway of rainbow-coloured glass crowning the museum's cubic roof. In June 2026 it completed 'The Next Level,' a roughly 4,000 m² underground expansion, unveiling James Turrell's 'As Seen Below – The Dome,' his 100th Skyspace and the largest ever built within a museum. Visiting in 2026 lets you take in the panorama's tinted skyline, the new subterranean light-and-sky dome, and Ron Mueck's hyperreal 'Boy' in a single trip — a highlight of any Aarhus stay.
