Ao Nang Beach is the main resort strip of Krabi in southern Thailand, a roughly 1.5 km stretch of golden, shell-flecked sand backed by dramatic limestone cliffs. Once a quiet fishing village, it is now the accessible gateway and base for exploring the Krabi coast, packed with restaurants, bars, tour desks and shops. It is especially popular as the launch point for longtail-boat trips to Railay and island-hopping tours.

SeasonDuring the rainy season (roughly June–October), rip currents can form fast and make swimming dangerous. If a red flag is flying, do not enter the water. October–December is the driest, most comfortable window.
SafetyJellyfish are pushed inshore in the monsoon months, and box jellyfish incidents—including fatalities—have been recorded on the Andaman/Krabi coast (e.g., Koh Lanta). Don't touch even dead jellyfish washed ashore; note that many hotels and beach eateries keep vinegar on hand for stings.
CautionA common jet-ski/scooter scam involves operators blaming you for pre-existing damage and demanding steep repair fees. Photograph or film the vehicle thoroughly before renting, and never hand over your original passport as a deposit.
CautionStrangers on the beach touting instant island-hopping or boat tours may overcharge or scam you. Book through established tour desks or apps and agree the price in advance.
MannersSwimwear is fine on the beach, but topless sunbathing is taboo in Thailand. Cover up when heading into the village or restaurants, and dress with shoulders and knees covered when visiting temples.
RulesE-cigarettes and vaping are illegal in Thailand; possession or use can lead to confiscation, heavy fines and possible detention, with checks at airports. Don't bring them in (verify the latest rules).
Practical info
About a 30-minute drive from Krabi International Airport (KBV): roughly 150 THB in a shared van or around 600 THB for a private taxi (check current rates). Longtail boats generally run about 8am–6pm; bring water shoes and a dry bag as jetties and shorelines are rocky and often wet. Confirm fares and hours locally.
