🇫🇷 Annecy Old Town

Vieille ville d'Annecy · 안시

Location

Overview

Annecy Old Town (Vieille ville d'Annecy) is a medieval center laced with canals of the River Thiou, whose pastel houses and flower-draped bridges have earned it the nickname 'Venice of the Alps.' Its highlights are the ship-shaped Palais de l'Île, a 12th-century former prison and courthouse in the middle of the canal, the hilltop Château d'Annecy museum, and the iron Pont des Amours (Lovers' Bridge). Wandering the pedestrian lanes is free, but in summer 2026 they fill with crowds by late morning, so an early start is best. Note that on Saturday, 1 August 2026 the Fête du Lac, one of Europe's largest fireworks shows, draws over 200,000 people, so plan that date carefully.
