🇹🇼 Alishan National Forest Recreation Area

阿里山國家森林遊樂區 · 자이(Chiayi)

Location

Overview

Alishan National Forest Recreation Area sits high in the mountains of Chiayi County, Taiwan (above 2,200m elevation) and is one of the island's most famous forest retreats, known for its ancient cypress groves and cool, misty high-altitude climate. It is celebrated for the 'Five Wonders of Alishan' — the forest railway, sacred giant trees, the sea of clouds, sunrise, and sunset. The pre-dawn sunrise over a rolling sea of clouds from the Zhushan platform is one of Taiwan's signature landscapes.
